Just a quick mention for all the hardy souls that make it to Denham airfield for a coffe.
The cafe is closed on Monday 14th, Tuseday 15th and Wed 16th November.
On the upside, the manky, crap, bouncy concrete road that leads up through the posh houzses has been repaired.
The downside is that the 'repair'is not consistent with the Oxford English Dictionary meaning of the word.
Having witnessed the same type of 'repair' on other roads, I suspect the following has happened.
A man driving an open back truck appears. The truck will have a brushless broom sticking up in one corner and a rusty shovel in the other (sometimes a traffic cone), depending on what they can steal.
The driver's workmate will be an underaged child sitting in the passenger seat wearing a sleeveless yelllow jacket, he will not be wearing a sealt belt, the vehicle will be un taxed, un insured and un roadworthy.
However, because he has complied with Health and Safety Regulations by ensurin g the under aged child is wearing a reflective jacket, he will have been deemed as being a competent person and therefore employed by the local authority / Highways Agency to 'repair' the highway.
The 'repair' will consist of him shovelling stale,, dry, old, stolen and unfit tar macadam wherever it landed. To ensufre a smooth and even driving surface, the under aged child will then jump up and down a few times on this freshly laid 'repair'.
They then drive off, safe in the knowledge that they have ripped off the tax payer / council tax payer / Road Tax Payer yet again for a job not well done.
I can report this with some conviction, because I rode over it this morning. The 'repair' is already failing, the ruts, bumps (trenches even) are already appearing back where they were.
I wish you all, safe riding!
Edit by me.
The spelling mistakes are not mine. It is this stupid keyboard.
